"Vegans don't need to supplement B12."

Weak or false science

They make claims about the body or nutrition that the evidence does not support. When they fall, they take the speaker's credibility with them.

Why it is weak

It is irresponsible and can put people's health at risk. Calling supplementation "a pharmaceutical industry scam" is a conspiracy claim with no evidence.

"Unwashed" foods are not a reliable source and can carry harmful microorganisms.

A vegan who gets sick from lack of B12 harms themselves and becomes ammunition against the movement.

How to say it better

Anyone who doesn't eat animal products needs a reliable source of B12, such as a supplement or fortified food, ideally with professional guidance. Needing a supplement doesn't make the diet invalid.
