"Doctors don't know anything about nutrition."

Exaggeration or attack

They claim more than the evidence supports, or attack people instead of discussing what they do.

Why it is weak

It's a generalization. Nutrition training in medical school is often short, but that doesn't mean no doctor understands the subject, and many specialize in it.

It also dismisses the person's own doctor without examining the reason for the advice. Following your doctor isn't a fallacy; there may be a real clinical reason.

How to say it better

Ask the reason for the advice: which nutrient is missing and whether it can come from another source. If it is a general opinion, compare it with the positions of nutrition bodies and look for a dietitian who knows plant-based diets.
