"Unseasoned meat tastes of nothing; all the flavor comes from seasoning."

Weak or false science

They make claims about the body or nutrition that the evidence does not support. When they fall, they take the speaker's credibility with them.

Why it is weak

It's an exaggeration. Meat has its own flavor, which comes from fat, from compounds like heme iron and from the reactions that happen when it browns.

Meat lovers know this, and the phrase sounds like denying the obvious. The strongest argument doesn't need it.

How to say it better

Much of the flavor we associate with meat comes from preparation and seasoning, and that can be applied to plants. And even if meat tasted better, the pleasure of a meal wouldn't justify an animal's life.
